The adapter cable enables you to plug in any USB-A male device in to a USB-C port; this can be anything from a standard memory stick or external hard drive to keyboards and mice.
USB Type C (USB-C) is the most recent iteration of the USB connection that brings us faster speeds and flexibility compared to earlier versions. USB-C uses the latest 3.0 speeds along with a connector that is more flexible compared to previous generations. Earlier versions such as Micro and Mini USB can only be plugged in one way up which can be annoying because you know you will always try the wrong way first. USB-C is reversible which means it can be plugged in either way up and still work; never will you get it wrong, just straight in.
As already mentioned USB-C is based on USB 3.0 speeds minimum; this is fast, very fast. USB 2 could reach speeds of up to 480Mbps which was fine for transferring files years ago when they were smaller. We not have films and TV and much bigger files to transfer which can be time consuming; USB 3.0 can transfer up to a whopping 5Gbps which is over x10 the speed of USB 2.0. You can cut down transfer times massively when using the right tech and why wouldn't you want to?
